Bissell Proheat Revolution Pet Pro - How To Clean the Machine

So, one of the things I love most about the Bissell Proheat Revolution Pet Pro (and one of the things which made me decide on this particular carpet cleaning machine) is how easy it is to clean after using! Just like a vacuum, carpet cleaners also get hair stuck inside. With the Bissell Proheat Pet Pro, certain pieces are removable to make cleaning easy. Here is how to do it!

1) I start by making sure I still have cleaning solution in the top reservoir and space in the bottom reservoir for more water to enter.

2) I go to an area of carpet that I have already cleaned and go back and forth on Max Clean doing two sweeps releasing solution (pressing the trigger) and two sweeps without releasing the solution (not pressing the trigger). I do these steps a few times. This way clean solution is sucked back through the machine to clean it out. This especially helps to get hair off the bristles of the brushes.

3) Next, I remove the two reservoirs and place them in the sink to clean. Then I disassemble the bottom of the machine. There are two plastic pieces over the bristles which are removable. The first one is removed by lifting the purple tab where the upholstery brush would be plugged in, placing two fingers in the opening and lifting up. The second layer has two green button on top which say push and this piece then,
lifts off the bristles.  I place these in the sink to clean.

4) I also wipe off the machine/ bristles to dry them off and wipe away any hair which is there. With the plastic pieces removed I am really able to wipe down the bristles both top and bottom and remove any hair which has gotten stuck in the bristles.

5) Now that everything is removed and in the sink, I start washing! I start with the first removed plastic piece and wash any hair off. This always seems to be the part that traps the most hair. Since it is hard plastic, everything washes right off, no scrubbing needed!

6) Then I rinse off the second plastic cover. There is an inside part to this piece which hair can get trapped in. Bissell provides a special wand which fits perfectly inside to push it out! Once I get all the hair out I rinse the piece off again and set it aside to dry.

7) Next, I wash the dirty reservoir. This is where all the dirty water is stored after coming off the carpet. It is always pretty gross. I start by unscrewing the circular part in the bottom and removing the inner cylinder. This way I can wash everything off really well. I make sure to pay special attention to rinsing the inside of this reservoir because hair and dirt can get stuck to the sides. Then I lay everything down to dry.

8) The last part I clean is the reservoir which holds the cleaning solution. I just rinse everything off really fast because sometimes it gets sticky from the cleaning solution. Then I set it aside to dry.

9) Lastly I hand dry everything and reassemble the machine! That’s it! And since I make sure everything is clean and dry, I can put the machine back in the closet I keep it in without worrying about it leaking/ making a mess on the floor 😊
